Whitehills to Haugesund 20/06/26 – 23/06/26
286nm total, 265nm open water. As short a crossing as any from the Scottish mainland. Passes close to the Golden Eagle oil platform, but otherwise reasonably free from oilfield stuff. Easy run up to Haugesund once inside inner lead at Skudneshavn.

They have the EES biometric face and fingerprint scans, but were not even interested in looking at my partner’s Irish passport.
Logging the boat in
I had emailed the district border police in Stavanger before we left at post.sor-vest@politiet.no and contacted them when we arrived. They were insistent that I had to register the boat on the Sea Safe system (which is a beauresucratic nightmare designed for ships) unless it was impossible, in which case I should supply full boat details (Vessel information (name, flag, mmsi/imo, callsign), Pax/crew list with their full names, d.o.b, nationality, passport number and visa if necessary), arrival/departure time and date, arrival/departure port.)
I informed them it had been impossible to register on Sea Safe, sent the required details and they accepted it.
Haugesund Inde Kai Guest Harbour
Just beyond the 22. 5m bridge, fingers inside but tight if you have an unmanoeverable boat or alongside on the outside (our choice). Payable via the GoMarina app, boat over 10m NOK 350, extra for electricity and shower. Right in the centre of town, handy for checking in. Town is nice enough., we liked it.
