1st July 2026 – Leirvik to Rosendal
Leaving Leirvik and heading into Hardangerfjord proper, to Rosendal. No wind, hot in the sun, chillier when it goes behind the clouds. Stunning scenery that just gets better the deeper we go into the fjord.
Forecast for the next few days is wet, cold and windy, with gusts of 40+ kts possible in Rosendal according to Norway’s Yr weather app, which takes into account local topography. The fjord harbours can suffer from massive down draughts (fjallvind). For now, it’s a beautiful day in Norway’s fjord country. T-shirt and shorts most of the way, and so roasting hot when we arrived in Rosendal that we had to go for a swim in the fjord from the wee beach right beside the guest harbour.
We had a hot shower after the swim then a walk round the village, with a stop for some delicious home made ice cream
